The BSc Business Communications [BSc (Hons), BSc] programme is an exciting degree at Liverpool John Moores University which gives students the opportunity to study business in a different way.

Based in the John Foster Building on Mount Pleasant Campus at Liverpool Business School, students will study the world of business through a management perspective that will give them knowledge of key business functions such as finance, marketing and human resources as well as an understanding of how businesses can develop competitive advantage through the use of business intelligence and business systems. All is underpinned by the use of appropriate technologies.

How will you spend your study time?
BSc Business Communications will be delivered using a variety of methods especially practical based workshops. At each level you will be required to complete 120 credits, made up of a certain number of core modules, and a number of optional modules at Level Three. Each module will focus on a specific aspect of business communications but will normally incorporate a variety of other important disciplines. For example, the Business expansion module in level two focuses on e-business but encompasses areas relating to business models, marketing and communications.
At Level One you will be required to complete the following core modules: Communications, World of business,

At Level Two you will be required to complete the following core modules: World of work, Business Intelligence & Analysis, Graduate enterprise, Corporate communications, and Business expansion.
You can complete an optional sandwich year placement between years two and four.
At Level Three you will be required to complete the following core modules: Business Communications dissertation, Strategic Communications 1, and Change management. Students must also choose two from the following optional modules: Enterprise content management, Advanced business analysis, Strategic Communications 2, and Consultancy.
Option modules and routes
All students will take the same core modules in years 1 and 2. In year 3, after the placement, students will be offered the opportunity to specialise by selecting from a choice of options. Students may focus on systems and business analysis or develop their study of strategic communications and business consultancy.
Mode of teaching
Teaching is delivered using a combination of lectures, IT labs, workshop sessions and tutorials by lecturers with significant industry and research experience in the areas relevant to the programme. Lectures are used to relay information to students, who are expected to read their notes and carry out additional reading in the library. IT labs, workshops and tutorial session are more informal than lectures and take place in smaller groups, giving students the opportunity to discuss course content with staff, fellow students, or experiment with techniques introduced during IT lab sessions.
How will you be assessed?
Assessment is normally a combination of continually assessed coursework and end of semester examination. Students will experience a variety of assignments including project work, presentations, group projects, and IT lab based exercises.
